R Gang Eatery:
San Diego, CA
"Wow Fantastic Perfect and Delicious.
The Wow, I was mighty impressed with everything at R Gang Eatery, the staff was attentive without being overbearing. The bartender Jeremiah pours one helluva drink.
Everything about the meal was fantastic, my burger was the best I've had in a long long time. The garlic fries were delicious, I personally would have liked a little more garlic.
The scallops were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly.
The curry chicken pot pie had just enough curry to give you a little zing without being overpowering.
The tater tots, were simply devine (sex on fork), crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, definitely a favorite.
OMG! the smoked gouda mac'n cheese was out of this world, can you say foodgasm?
The house salad was a welcome change from the lettuce tossed in dressing until its screaming for a life preserver, everything just worked.
Now here's the kicker I'm not an eater of sweets so when the waitress insisted we try the s'mores casserole and strawberry rhubarb cobbler I relented figuring the rest of the group would finish them off. That s'more casserole was heaven, I hate the whole thing! I would've licked the bowl if we weren't in a classy joint. The strawberry rhubarb the perfect mix of tart and sweet and warm.
I enjoyed myself a great deal and it was nice to see the Chef Rich asking for honest feedback and actually listening to what people were saying. Can I say I just love Mother Sweeney, it was like we were all welcomed into their home. I'll definitely make the 2 hour plus ride just for the s'mores."

The Blue Pear Texx Mexx:
Palm Springs, CA
"Definitely a fan - Nothing over $9.95 on the menu - A Palm Springs Must Eat Restaurant! When we arrived we were greeted by Donald one of the owners, welcomed us all to The Blue Pear and informed us we would have a slight wait as the only table they had that is suitable for a big party was currently taken. We headed into the bar to order drinks, I have to say I have rarely seen bartenders so eager and friendly. After ordering our drinks we took a tour of the 6 room hotel just outside the back door, where there's another bar with an equally as attentive and eager bartender. The rooms are very well done, the owners turned an old Travel Lodge into a little hidden gem. Donald kept updating our party on what was happening as we sat around the pool in one of the cabana's with our drinks. Our wait wasn't that long at all, in fact I hadn't even finished my first cocktail (I'm a drinker, so that says something), before we were seated. The puffy tacos, grilled shrimp tacos and the chicken chicken fried stake were nothing short of amazing. For $3.95 you can order a nice house salad, which isn't your basic ettuce and a slice of tomato, it's a full salad! The blue pear margarita, AMAZING! (see attached pic), And I'm not a margarita kinda guy, give me we well poured Jack and Seven (which they did, twice), and I'm happy. Our server Brandon was extremely attentive without being overbearing and in your face, I'll definitely request his table on future visits. Donald the owner also checked in on us frequently making sure everything was to our satisfaction, the Chef even came out and introduced himself to our table. I'll tell you this is a welcome change from the bad service we experienced during lunch at the ACE hotel (see my review on that one!) My only fear is that it's going to become so popular I won't be able to get in to enjoy the food. If you're in Palm Springs or visiting Palm Springs and the surrounding cities I highly recommend you dine at the Blue Pear and tell them I sent you!"

King's Highway at ACE Hotel & Swim...:
Palm Springs, CA
"In a word this place sucks, well at least the service by the pool sucks. Friends and I went in for lunch, there were 2 tables taken inside the restaurant and 2 out by the pool, which is where we sat at the suggestion of the hostess. 30 minutes later no one had come by or even acknowledged us, the bearded wonder who turned put to be our waiter walked by us no less than 10 times. One of our party finally went to the bar to see if we could get some help. Finally the bearded wonder arrives to take our food and drink order and disappears! Another 20 minute wait and our food, well 3 out of the 4 orders arrive without the drinks. Now this is Palm Springs in May, its not exactly cool outside, drinks would have been nice while waiting for our food. So, 3 out of 4 arrive and half of one is wrong, when its pointed put to the bearded wonder after he returns with our drinks, he leaves without serving the 4th their drink. Finally we're all served, although the wrong order is still waiting for the other half of their order, which ultimately never arrived by the time we got our check. We were never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks or given any other attention while we dined. Now the portions wouldn't be enough to feed a child. I ordered the fish tacos (2 to an order), between the two of them there was one Gortons fish stick on 2 tortillas and that's it, nothing else for 9 bucks! Now if you're like me and you work hard for you're money and don't mind spending it, I'd suggest skipping the expensive mediocre food and poor service of the Ace and heading to one of the many other restaurants in town, like Look or Azul."

"Great food and drink, reasonably priced. Get the sliders and the overflowing bowl of seasoned fries! The chicken skewers are well.seasoned and tasty, one of our party had the gourmet burger and said it was out of this world. My only complaint is the bartender wasn't friendly or fast, he was more interested in talking his regulars and friends than he was serving those he didn't know. Great mixed gay, straight, and whatever crowd."

Red Tomato & House of Lamb:
Cathedral City, CA
"Love the chicken and dumplings here! That said this place is either hit or miss. With every entree you get your choice off soup or salad. Be sure to closely check tour bowl of homemade cucumber/tomato/onion tapanade mine had an extra ingredient of ABC gum, obviously they recycled from a previous guest. That side its my favorite place for homemade chicken and dumplings."

"Seated at a dirty table, but the drinks were served quickly. Waitress looked like she just rolled in after working a hard night on the boulevard stroll. With all the empty tables and booths in the restaurant she couldn't have seated the screaming baby family elsewhere? Never again!"
